In a sensational final week of WBBL09 action, Brisbane Heat scorched the Perth Scorches to storm into the Finals against the Adelaide Strikers at the Adelaide Oval in North Adelaide, Australia just past 10am (CAT) on Saturday 2 December, 2023.

Playing for Adelaide Strikers, Proteas captain Laura Wolvaardt is up against fellow South African Mignon du Preez (Brisbane Heat) in the final showdown, and having played a pivotal role with 363-runs to her name for the Strikers, Wolvaardt will be looking to capitalise on her good form and finish on a high with the Strikers.

Brisbane Heat batter Mignon du Preez has had a remarkable season so far. Amassing 369-runs for Heat, du Preez has been consistent with the bat and brilliant on the field.

Ticking off her bucket-list of having held a Koala Bear, du Preez expressed that winning a WBBL trophy would top the experience of a Koala Bear. Having never won a major trophy for South Africa, should the Heat burn the Strikers in the final, it would be a special moment for “Minx”.

Her contribution with the bat, has Brisbane Heat leading the runs-scored per team table, with Wolvaardt and Adelaide Strikers at number six on the table.

Lizelle Lee notched up 409-runs for the Hobart Hurricanes. With two unbeaten innings, Lee had a sensational tournament finishing ahead of Wolvaardt and du Preez on the leading individual run-scorers board.

Speedster Shabnim Ismail finished the tournament with 13-wickets to her name for the Hobart Hurricanes, whilst pace bowler Marizanne Kapp finished with 10-wickets for Sydney Thunder.

All-rounder, Chloe Tryone finished with 9-wickets and 244-runs for the Sydney Sixers.

It is all to play for on Saturday, Wolfie against Minx. Will lightening Strike twice or will the Heat be too much at the Adelaide Oval, as the Adelaide Strikers take on Brisbane Heat in what is set to be a firecracker of a final in Adelaide.
