Leading Momentum Proteas batter, Lizelle Lee, has crossed over to the Melbourne Renegades after completing three seasons with the Melbourne Stars.

Lee, who is currently part of the 24-woman Momentum Proteas squad in camp in Pretoria, is among several Renegades signings ahead of the WBBL|06 season.

The 28-year-old amassed two centuries during her time with the Stars and has represented South Africa on 74 occasions in T20 internationals, including the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup earlier this year.

“I’m thrilled to be heading back to the WBBL and joining a new team will provide some extra motivation,” Lee pointed out in the media release on melbournerenegades.com

The big-hitting South African is the first overseas player to sign with the Renegades for the upcoming season.

“The Renegades have done well recently and hopefully I can make a positive impact. I’ve had the pleasure of playing against a lot of these players in the WBBL and internationally, but it’ll be nice to be on the same team this time.”

The Renegades open the WBBL|06 season against Sydney Sixers on 17 October 2020.
