Port Elizabeth’s Lizelle Muller says no words can describe the excitement she feels after being crowned the 2021 Growthpoint SA National Squash Champion.
Muller, who was twice runner-up in 2019 and 2020, beat former winner, Milnay Louw in four sets – 9-11 11-7 11-6 11-7 in the final at the all-glass court at V& A Waterfront in Cape Town.
Speaking to gsport the morning after her satisfying win, Muller said: “It was the last ticked box on my list of achievements!!

“It was a big disappointment coming second twice in a row, as I didn’t know if I would still play this level this year, but I trained hard and came back to claim my third time lucky”

Earlier in the day, Savannah Ingledew beat former Momentum gsport Award winner, Awande Malinga 12-10 9-11 11-6 8-11 11-9, to win the U17 national title.
