Richards Bay runner Marsha Muller set a new South African and African women’s 48-hour record at the Running Festival in Germiston.

According to a post shared on zululandobserver.co.za, Muller set the record at 267.5km, after starting on the track at 6am CAT on Wednesday, 28 December and stopped on Friday morning.

In a previous Facebook post before her two-day race, Muller shared: “Even though my first 48hr challenge was a treadmill run, not a real race, the emotions are still real at the thought of absolute shatteredness of your body crossing barriers you mind can only imagine crossing. To close my running year off, this time round, this run will be for reals on 500m track, round and round I will go for 48hrs non stop.

“There is no limits in this mind and heart of mine, nor should there be in yours.. if you can dream it, you can do it.”
