French professional basketballer, Melissa Diawakana, has launched an exciting player development project to support athletes and their journeys.
Taking to Instagram, Diawakana, who has previously spoken to gsport about her desire to inspire the next generation, wrote: “I am taking advantage of this special time and year to launch my project, which I have been preparing for several years, because whether we like it or not the career of an athlete only lasts a while.”
Diawakana has set up two complementary structures, one of which aims to train the players, and the other, to boost, support and guide young players and families on their path to the highest level.
In her skills training program, Diawakana offers Individual coaching only for professional players and young prospects.
She says: “I train the professional players individually. I’m not a physical trainer. I didn’t get the players back in shape, I just take care of the basketball aspect.”
In her work as a mentor, Diawakana will work as a consultant, with the structure dedicated to families and young players who wish to evolve in the professional basketball environment.
Diawakana continues: “Throughout my career, I have seen and experienced a lot! The professional world cannot be improvised. It responds to codes, sometimes complex, for which young players are not prepared and which require tools. Well equipped, this world becomes magical, and it is an adventure more than incredible.”
