Miné de Klerk Successfully Defends Her U20 Shot-Put World Athletics Championship Title

Miné de Klerk who hails from Welkom in the Free State, but now lives and studies at the University of Oregon in the U.S.A, won her second consecutive U20 shot-put World Athletics Championship title, that is currently underway in Cali, Colombia.

De Klerk who set out to defend her title was the only participant to clear the 17m line. She successfully defended her title with a throw of 17.17m and secured a gold medal. de Klerk had previously won the title in 2021 in Nairobi.

Pinar Akyol of Turkey claimed silver with a throw of 16.84m. Zuzanna Maslana of Poland won bronze with a throw of 16.06 which was her personal best throw.
