South African wheelchair tennis ace, Kgothatso Montjane, is in high spirits despite losing in the Australian Open Doubles final on Tuesday, 16 February 2021.

Montjane teamed up with Britain’s Lucy Shuker against Netherlands duo, Diede de Groot and Aniek van Koot, losing 6-4 6-1.

The Seshego-born expressed her gratitude of being afforded the opportunity to play internationally during Covid-19 times: “That’s a Wrap for AusOpen 2021,” she Tweeted.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to be back playing again during these difficult times. Thanks to everyone who showed me love and support. To my Great Team thanks for making it all possible for me.”

On Monday, 15 February, the 34-year-old battled to the bitter end in her singles semi-final match against second-seed Yui Kamiji, losing 6-1 5-7 6-0.
