South Africa awaits with anticipation as the hours draw closer to the announcement of the South African women’s national team for the FIFA Women’s World Cup at the Presidential Guesthouse in Pretoria, where Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Zizi Kodwa, will have the honour of reading out the lucky names.
With less than 30 days until kick-off, the nation is uniting to rally behind Banyana Banyana, sending them off in style to Australia and New Zealand.
This week, we proudly recognize the country’s official marketing agency, Brand South Africa. They wholeheartedly support sport in our nation and actively work to elevate the prominence of women’s sport.
In honour of Banyana Banyana’s departure to the FIFA Women’s World Cup, Brand South Africa hosted a breakfast, where the players signed the Brand South Africa pledge, committing to play their part and fly the flag proudly at all times.
The breakfast gathering was graced by esteemed individuals, including Muditambi Ravele, board member of Brand South Africa and Founder of SAWASF, Lydia Monyepao, CEO of the South African Football Association, and leading media representatives, including the gsport Newsroom.
Speaking after the breakfast, Sithembile Ntombela, Acting CEO of Brand South Africa, expressed their dedication, saying: “Sport is one of the pillars that have shaped how the world sees South Africa. Our sporting prowess continues to demonstrate how we inspire excellence through sport.
“Brand South Africa is committed to Banyana Banyana and to all ladies’ sports. We will soon do the same for Proteas Netball. This is how we do it, in true South African style.”
The night before, to mark 30 days to go to the FIFA Women’s World Cup, the gsport Newsroom joined other media at the World of Champions studios, as SuperSport hosted a live broadcast event in celebration of Banyana Banyana, as part of their #HereForHer campaign.
The live broadcast featured insights into the team’s build up to the World Cup while Banyana Banyana players handed over official kit to SuperSport presenters to thank them for their support of women’s football.
With bated breath, South Africa eagerly awaits the announcement of the women’s national team, standing proudly in support of Banyana Banyana. As they embark on their journey to the FIFA Women’s World Cup, let us show our unwavering support and celebrate the excellence of women’s sports. Together, we embody the true spirit of South Africa.
