Netherlands Water Polo won the 20th edition of the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan on Friday, 28 July, and in the process, have qualified for Paris 2024.

The Dutch team clinched the world title for the second time, previously achieving the feat in 1991, and adding to their Olympic gold in 2008. Their recent victory secured a second consecutive medal following their bronze win last summer, solidifying their dominance and status as a powerhouse in aquatic sports.

From the outset, the Netherlands showcased their dominance in the pool, leaving a trail of awe-inspiring performances throughout the tournament. As they faced Spain in the thrilling final, the tension was palpable.The match against Spain was a battle of skill, strategy, and sheer determination. 

The close score of 17-16 highlighted the intensity of the competition and the incredible abilities of both teams’ water polo squads. Each goal was hard-fought, and the Netherlands demonstrated their tenacity as they fought for every point, eventually emerging as the victors.
