NFA Launch Women’s Football Strategy

The Namibian Football Association launches its first-ever women’s strategic plan, which will look towards guiding them to develop and strengthen their football to greater performances on the world stage.

As part of the four-year framework, the strategy carves out a new pathway for the development of women’s football.

The Driving Change framework will focus on five strategic priorities which include participation, talent pathway, excellence, performance, governance, leadership, education, capacity building, visibility and sustainability to give Namibian women’s football the best possible platform to thrive.

The strategic plan aims to increase access, and mass participation nationwide for all levels of the game, improve the quality of national teams, improve elite players’ support and well-being on and off the field and provide a competent and adequate representation of women’s football at executive level and leadership positions.

And, in the process providing holistic educational opportunities and career pathways for players, coaches, match officials, technical teams, medical personnel and administrators.

The Acting Director of sport, Irvine Ndjavera, urged partners and stakeholders to continue to invest in women’s football.

“When you empower a woman, you empower a nation. Launching this strategy is a milestone for sport in Namibia and the strategy promises great achievements if implemented well.

“However, like all other ventures, it needs support to get off the ground and keep moving. It starts with us, the partners and stakeholders believing that investing in women’s football will make a difference,” he concluded.
