South African surfers Nikita Robb and Tammy-Lee Smith will contest the quarters, semis and final at the two-star rated, R75 000 Hot Tuna Central Coast Pro on Friday at Soldiers Beach in New South Wales, Australia.
Nikita and Tammy-Lee won their third round encounters of Wednesday, and are still in contention to scoop the R18 000, and 500 ratings points at stake for the winner.
Starting in the second round (round of 32), Robb earned 14.66 points in winning her opening clash, scoring the third highest heat tally of the women’s event to date, and meets Julia Christian (USA), Leilani Gryde (Haw) and Claudia Gonsalves tomorrow morning, with the top two advancing to the semis.
Tammy-Lee’s 6.0 and 5.0 point rides were sufficient to earn her a spot in the quarters along with heat runner-up Paige Hareb (NZ), as the pair dashed the hopes of another New Zealander in Airini Mason, the reigning ASP Australasia pro junior champion, and rising star Anali Gomez (Peru).
