Olympic Bound Corbett Ready for Olympic Trials in Gqeberha

2020 Tokyo Olympic-bound swimmer, Kaylene Corbett, is excited to be competing at the Olympic Trials which will take place in Gqeberha (PE) from 7-12 April 2021.

The South African shared on her Instagram account, “First time being home in 5 months! Here to race at the Olympic Trials and I couldn’t be more EXCITED!!!! 2 more sleeps till racing starts.”

Her coach, Rocco Meiring, confirmed Corbett’s arrival in the windy city, “Kaylene is currently in PE preparing for Olympic Trials that will start on Wed, 7 April,” he revealed to gsport.

“She has qualified already, but this is another qualification competition for Tokyo.”

The 21-year-old previously qualified to compete in her first Olympics after a swimming a time of 2min 24.18sec in the 200m breaststroke at the 2019 African Championships in Morocco.

However, due to Covid-19, Corbett has had to wait for her chance to show the world what she is capable of achieving in the pool and will be aiming to get her name onto the medal winning team for South Africa in Tokyo.
