Global netball star, Karla Pretorius, was honoured for her outstanding season, winning Player of the Year at the annual Sunshine Coast Lightning Awards ceremony.

According to the team’s official website, sunshinecoastlightning.com.au, Pretorius’ sensational 2020 campaign has seen her walk away with her third consecutive Player of the Year accolade.

Speaking on the South African’s incredible feat, head coach Kylee Byrne says, “Karla is arguably the best defender in the world but moreover, she is the type of person that is invaluable to have within a team.

“Being recognised with this award for a third year speaks volumes about Karla as an elite athlete and a person, she works incredibly hard to get the best out of herself but is incredibly gracious and will always put the team first.”

In August, the team’s Vice-Captain was honoured at the 2020 Momentum gsport Awards becoming the first-ever recipient of the Global Woman in Sport award.
