Prolific Mignon out of Qualifiers

Northerns and returning South Africa Women’s cricket player, Charlize van der Westhuizen, will replace team-mate, wicketkeeper/batswoman, Mignon du Preez in the South African World Cup squad. 

Du Preez withdrew from the squad which will participate in the ICC Women’s World Cup qualifier owing to personal reasons, and Van der Westhuizen returns to the national setup after her last appearance in 2005 against West Indies Women.

In her previous performances in the national squad, the 23-year old right-handed batswoman and slow left-arm bowler has played in 18 One-Day Internationals, has a high score of 25 not-out, and has taken 8 wickets.

The qualifying tournament will be held in Stellenbosch, Western Cape from 18th – 24th February 2008, and the South Africa Women’s squad will assemble for a training camp ahead of the tournament at Stellenbosch from the 13th February.

10. Sunette Loubser – Boland
11. Analie Minny – Free State
12. Alicia Smith – Boland
13. Magdalena Terblanche – Gauteng
14. Charlize van der Westhuizen – Northerns
