Proteas Aim to Qualify for 2014 T20 WC

Cricket SA logoPride will not be the only at stake when the Proteas play Pakistan on Wednesday, as the winner between the two will book their place in the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 in Bangladesh in 2014.

The team has had a disappointing tournament thus far after winning the first of their three matches in the group stage against hosts Sri Lanka, and will look to redeem themselves when they face the Pakistanis at the Moors Cricket Club in Sri Lanka.

In the other playoff match, hosts Sri Lanka will face India, also on Wednesday. The semi-final between New Zealand and England will take place at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Thursday, while the second semi-final between the West Indies and Australia will be at the same venue on Friday.

The inaugural ICC Women’s World Twenty20 final will take place on Sunday morning.
