2011 USSA Football titleholders, the University of Johannesburg, maintained their unbeaten record with a 5-3 win over University of Limpopo to progress to the first semi-final of the 2012 USSA Football National Club Championships, at the University of the Western Cape in Bellville on Wednesday, 5 December, 2012.
In a semi-finalists list complete with Highveld-based teams, UJ will face strong competition in Tshwane University of Technology, who have also progressed to the tournament knock-out stage without conceding a match, while Tuks will face the Vaal University of Technology in the second decider for national honours.
The Vaal University of Technology have also had a strong showing in the tournament to date, boasting big wins over Tshwane University of Technology (Witbank) and the Tshwane University of Technology (Witbank) on their way to contest the knock-out rounds.
The University of Pretoria had a slow start in the tournament, drawing 1-1 with a powerful University of Limpopo in their opening fixture, before going on to record an impressive 5-0 win over UCT followed up by a convincing 2-0 defeat of the University of KwaZulu-Natal (Westville) to book their place in the semis.
