South Africa emerged worthy victors after a tight final squash test against the Netherlands drew to a close in Fish Hoek yesterday, when a 4-4 overall match result ensured a 17-15 victory for the home side on aggregate. 

South Africa took a two-match advantage into yesterday’s deciding test leg, gained in the first leg in Welkom on 8 August.

Both camps played to a level 4-all result in each of the remaining Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth legs of the test series, as well as in the Cape yesterday.

SA’s men have been instrumental in the test series being decided in the home side’s favour, with Rodney Durbach, Mike Tootill, Clinton Leeuw, Steven Coppinger, and Steven Coppinger holding clean sheets in all of their matches.
