SA Women Bring in AAG Medals

South Africa’s women continued their good form on Monday at the 9th edition of the All Africa Games in Algiers, when they contributed 7 out of 15 medals won by the combined team.

The performances in the pool were of particular satisfaction, with Amanda Loots winning Gold in the 50m backstroke, to which Suzaan Van Biljon promptly added another in the 100m breaststroke event.
Channele van Wyk took second place for a Silver medal in the 100m backstroke, while Jessica Pengelly continued her good form to bring in another medal, this time a Bronze in the 50m back-stroke.
Carol Jacobs showed her potential in the Female Kata during the Karate finals, and brought in a Bronze for South Africa, while top-rated Lizaan du Plessis beat Medjahdi of Algeria 6/1  6/4 for the Silver medal in the women’s tennis singles.
Du Plessis wasn’t finished though, and teamed up with Kelly Anderson for another Silver medal, when the pair beat Medjahdi and Halo of Algeria 6/2 6/7 6/4.
