The South African Football Association has announced that the previously postponed Sasol League National Championships will now be played from 7-13 February 2022, at King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi, Durban.

This comes after the much-anticipated tournament was postponed in December last year due to the increasing COVID-19 cases in the country.

The nine provincial winners of the Sasol League will take on one another for a place in the final, where the winner and runner-up will be promoted to the 2022 edition of the Hollywoodbets Super League.

To ensure the safety of the players and personnel involved in this tournament, the National Championships will not be played infront of spectators. However, fans will be able to watch the semi-finals and the final on SABC Sport on the 11th and 13th of February.

SAFA’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr Thulani Ngwenya said, “As per our laid down regulations, no spectators will be allowed to attend the Sasol League play-offs tournament. This is to guard against the possible spread of COVID-19, which normally spreads fast during big events.”
