Senwes North West Dragons beat Eastern Storm to maintain their winning streak in the CSA Senior Women’s T20 Cup in Benoni on Sunday, 6 February 2022.
The visitors were put in to bat and were confident in their display as Elandri Janse van Rensburg scored 48 (49), while Wilmi Mostert assisted with 29 (36).
The Dragons posted 118/6 in their 20 overs.
In the run-chase, Eastern Storm struggled to find form as they were bowled out for 50 in 18.2 overs.
Zintle Mali and Evodia Yekile took three wickets each as the Dragons won by 68 runs.
In the second Top 6 clash in Cape Town, Six Gun Grill Western Province also continued their fine form, beating Imperial Gauteng Lions by 9 wickets.
The Lionesses won the toss and chose to bat as Nonkululeko Thabethe top-scored 33 (38) to guide the Gauteng side to 108/6 in their 20 overs.
Western Province responded with Faye Tunnicliffe scoring an unbeaten 50* (43) and Saraah Smith 41 (40) as the team sailed to a 112/1 victory.
In Pool A, Boland Women had their work cut out as they narrowly defeated Border Women by 3 runs.
Boland were put in to bat and managed to put 99/8 on the board in their 20 overs, with Zizipho Mdebuka top-scoring with 20 (14).
Border put up a fight but narrowly missed out as they were bowled out for 96 in 19.4 overs. Asakhe Nyovane top-scored with 22 (30).
In Pool B, Limpopo Women defeated Mpumalanga Women by 7 wickets.
Mpumalanga chose to bat after winning the toss and posted a total of 97/6 in their 20 overs. Thandeka Sithole topped scored with 28 (42).
In return, Limpopo reached the target of 98/3 in 17.2 overs, with Tebogo Macheke unbeaten on 42* (41).
