Springbok Women Hammer Namibia to Claim Record Victory

Springbok Women secured their biggest victory in test rugby when they outclassed Namibia 123-3, to conclude their Pool A fixtures of the Rugby Africa Women’s Cup without a defeat in a rainy Cape Town, on Thursday, 23 July 2022.

The Stanley Raubenheimer-coached side fought through the wet conditions scoring 20 tries and setting their biggest victory ever in test rugby.

Lusanda Dumke was ruled out of the game after she suffered a head clash during the warm-up session and was replaced by Nokubongo Siko. Captain Babalwa Latsha was red-carded early in the game and the Bok Women had to play the rest of the game with 14 players.

In her first test start for South Africa, Lerato Makua was awarded the Player of the Match award. Other top performers include Zintle Mpupha and Simamkele Namba who scored four tries apiece.

Flyhalf Libbie Janse van Rensburg scored two tries and added 14 conversions contributing 38 points as the Springbok Women recorded a new test record.

Springbok Women will now have to wait for other pool games to conclude to find out their next opponents.
