Ms Anne Siroky who at the age of 37 became the number 1 beach volleyball player in South Africa and travelled all over the world to represent her country has been announced the winner in the 2007 sport category of the prestigious Shoprite Checkers/SABC2 Woman of the Year Award.
Best Beach Clean-Up Ever
The 2006/2007 Vodacom Beach Clean Up campaign has surpassed expectations by clearing a total of 43, 914 bags of marine litter from the South African coastline over the festive season. The project started on December 16 and ran until January 8 at twenty-three selected beaches, and provided work for over 240 previously unemployed individuals.

Beach volleyball players, touch rugby and soccer enthusiasts, surfers, lifesavers and surf ski paddlers are looking forward to enjoying pristine playgrounds at selected beaches around the country during the Vodacom Beach Clean Up which takes place from 16 December 2006 until 8 January 2007.
