South African swimmer, Erin Gallagher, has continued with her sensational record-breaking form when she collected three individual gold medals at the 2019 All African Games and two silvers in the butterfly, and another five gold medals in the relays.
The 20-year-old has not wasted any time in showing that her future remains as bright as the smile that she continuously has on her face, especially after successfully accomplishing a historic feat in the 50m freestyle at the African Games, where she clocked a time of 25.55, and became the first sub-25 second time ever for a South African female to have achieved this.
Gallagher’s rapid rise comes as no surprise after her showcasing at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow as well in 2017 when she competed at the World Aquatics Championships and has been capturing the limelight with her talent. And, after her performance at the African Games, there’s no doubt that Gallagher and the rest of South Africa will be hoping that she continues to grow from strength to strength and fly the flag high on the world stage.
Her Focus Will Now Be on the Next Event – 2020 Olympics in Tokyo
As an extra motivation after a disappointing show at the recent World Championships in Gwangju, Gallagher was certainly looking for a revival and there was no better way than for her to enter the African Games and own every race that she competed in.
Her focus will now be on the next event which will be the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, which might see the South African deliver on the highest stage where she will be 21-years-old by that time.
