Jordan Edwards, Luise Janse van Rensburg and Western Cape duo, Milla Kotze and Naledi Manyube, emerged as winners in their respective categories as the Eastern Cape leg of the Growthpoint Super 8 Series concluded on Friday, 7 January 2022.
The junior and senior ranking tournament took place at the PE Lawn Tennis Club in Gqeberha where top-seed, Edwards of Gauteng Central and second seed, Mandie Claassens, battled it out for the Girls’ Singles U12 title.
Edwards went on to claim top honours with a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
Claassens quickly dusted off her defeat in the singles final as she partnered Siyolise Schultz winning the Girls’ Doubles U12 crown, following an epic 6-1, 6-1 victory over Madison Rieseberg and Sistine van Pietzen.
Kotze produced a top performance outshining Roxy Bredenkamp 7-5, 6-2 to secure gold in the Girls’ U14 singles final.
Later, the two joined forces as they produced a clean sweep win in the Girls’ Doubles U14, claiming the trophy with a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Kiara Roulstone and Jenna Theron.
Janse van Rensburg defeated Rebecca Widan 6-3, 6-3 in the Girls’ Singles U16 final.
The two went on to partner in the Doubles final, defeating Zoey Scrive and Abigayel Vosloo 6-2, 1-6, 11-9.
The open women’s singles final was epic as top seed, Naledi Manyube, battled second seed, Wilmien Vos.
Manyube showed class as she went on to defeat Vos 6-1, 6-0. She later joined forces with Annika Kleinhans in the doubles final, outshining Vos and Nadia Gouws.
