In division two, the Eastern Cape Aloes added more salt to the Tornados’ wounds after beating them 52-39 to maintain their ten-game unbeaten run in the Telkom Netball League on Friday, 10 June 2022.
This was the Western Cape sides’ seventh defeat after eleven games and they will now resort to permutations to keep their top four finish hopes alive. Despite this, Tornados coach, Danlee Mathews says she is confident that her team will pull through in the end.
“I’m very proud of the girls not necessarily the result. We need to be mindful of the fact we have a young team, and we need to be patient with them. However, I still feel there are a couple of things we need to work on as we lack consistency. We will make sure we work on all our mistakes ahead of our crucial match against the Kingdom Queens next week.”
The Golden Fireballs put out the Flames’ fire following their 61-45 victory. The Flames were in high spirits after securing two back-to-back victories last weekend and moved from the bottom of the division one log.
Fireballs Goal Shooter, Nomfundo Mngomezulu starred in the circle and boasted a hundred goal percentage at half-time that saw the table toppers lead by ten goals. The match was very much even statistically at the end but the Flames accumulated sixty penalties which led them astray.
The Crinums went back to winning ways with an impressive 51-41 victory over the Kingdom Stars. Crinums coach, Martha Mosoahle held back today and utilized the same starting seven throughout the match however she will have to keep her fingers crossed after key player, Khanyisa Chawane limped off the court due to an ankle injury in the last sixty seconds.
The Stars will remain at the bottom of the division one log and have a mammoth task ahead as they will now prepare to face the Jaguars on Saturday afternoon.
