Tough Warm-up For SA Women

The SPAR South African women’s team have lost all three of their warm up matches against Australia in Barcelona, as they prepare for the Women’s Hockey World Cup in Spain.

 

Despite losing 7 – 1, 3 – 1, 3 – 1, coach Jenny King said it was fantastic preparation, and the team is very upbeat regarding their improvement.

She said the experience of playing Australia ahead of the World Cup was invaluable.

South Africa, lead by the inspirational Marsha Marescia, are in Pool B, and will face Australia in their opening World Cup match on September 27, followed by a clash with Korea the following day.

South Africa’s other matches in the pool stage are against Argentina, USA, and Japan.

The Samsung Hockey World Cup which takes place in Madrid from September 27 to October 8, 2006.
