Following a gold medal finish at the 2021 Junior Pan American Games, the USA Softball U18 women’s team beat Chinese Taipei to claim their fourth consecutive WBSC Junior Women’s World Championship title in Peru.
Initially, nine national teams were scheduled to participate in the prestigious youth tournament until South Africa withdrew due to international travel restrictions, forcing the tournament to be an eight-team competition.
The Red, White and Blue kicked off their championship campaign with a four-inning 10-0 victory against the Czech Republic. Morgan MacKenzie pitched four innings of one hit ball, with one walk and seven strikeouts as USA defeated 40th ranked Colombia 8-0.
Right fielder, Kelly Williams, led the USA to their third win in an intense game against Mexico with a 5-3 victory. Puerto Rico gave the USA a good run for their victory after they forced the game to be decided in the eighth inning which saw the USA narrowing winning the game 1-0.

A top drawer performance from Alissa Humphrey saw the Kyla Holas-coached side triumph by 10-0 over Netherlands
USA recorded their fifth win with a 13-0 victory over the host nation, Peru. In their last game, they faced Chinese Taipei whom they defeated 9-2 in a six inning game to finish the round robin stage undefeated.
A walk-off RBI double off the bat of Valerie Cagle in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the USA their fourth junior women’s softball world title in a row after they defeated Chinese Taipei 1-0.
Cagle was named as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the WBSC U18 Women’s Softball World Cup.
