The 18th edition of the USSA Football National Club Championships gets underway at the University of the Western Cape in Bellville today.
South Africa’s premier university football competition for women has produced quality footballers, that are excelling, both at provincial and national levels.
The current and former Banyana Banyana captains Amanda Dlamini and Simphiwe Dluldlu have represented Tuks and University of Johannesburg respectively at the USSA Football National Championships.
University of Johannesburg go into the competition as defending champions.
Vaal University of Technology has won the competition the most number of times, winning it four times in 1991, 2002, 2007 and 2010.
