Vital Lessons for Team SA at Africa Champs

The South African women’s wheelchair basketball team head coach, Ntombi Mthombeni, reveals her side have taken away vital lessons from participating at the 2022 IWBF Africa Championship in Addis Ababa.

Team Green and Gold lost their final match of the competition 67-29 to Algeria who were crowned champions at the Ras Hailu Indoor Sport Stadium on Saturday, 29 January 2022.

“We need to go back to the drawing board and correct our shooting! We are coming back here again with the Under 25 somewhere around September or October,” said Mthombeni.

Algeria never lost a game in the tournament, their highest score being against Ethiopia 79-23 on 25 January 2022. They will now get to represent the African Zone at the World Cup Championship in Dubai next year.
