South Africa’s weightlifting champion Laryne Jefferies earned three bronze and a silver medal at the 2022 African Senior Weightlifting Championships in Egypt.
The member of Movement Crew, a strength and CrossFit gym in Brackenhurst, took part in the 71kg category at the competition which ran from 26 October to 4 November.
Jefferies bagged bronze for snatch, clean and jerk and total score. Her silver was earned in the African Senior Weightlifting Clubs also in the U71kg division.
The fashion designer went into weightlifting only two years ago and since then Jefferies has made remarkable strides in her career.
This year, her performances at the Gauteng Champs and Arnold Classic were acknowledged by the SA Weightlifting Association as new South African records.
