Rising Ethiopian star, Yalenzerf Yehualaw, smashed the 10km world record at the Castellón race in Spain on Sunday, 27 February 2022.
The world half-marathon bronze medalist broke the ribbon in a time of 29 minutes 14 seconds, shaving off 24 seconds from the previous record of 29:38 set last year by Ethiopian counterpart, Bahrain Kalkidan Gezahegne.

Yehualaw is the first woman in history to dip under the 29:30 barrier on the road.
The Kenyan quartert of Vicoty Chepngeno, Mercy Cherono, Naomi Chepngeno and Valentine Jebet completed the women’s top five.
