Free State Women defeated Tuskers Women in Pool B as action continued in the CSA Provincial League in Pietermaritzburg on Saturday, 26 February 2022.
Free State had won the toss and put in the home team to bat. Megan Wessells fell short of a half-century, finishing on 47 (88), with Alexandra Candler 22 (58) playing a vital role as the Tuskers were bowled out for 153.
In a successful run chase, Yolandi Potgieter responded with an unbeaten 72* (74) and Annerie Dercksen 52* (80) as the #BloemfonteinRoses reached their target of 154/1 in 25.5 overs.
In the Top 6 matches, Titans Women hosted Imperial Gauteng Lions Women at SuperSport Park in Centurion. The Lionesses were put in to bat and were bowled out for 128/10 in 48 overs. Louise Kemp was the highest run-scorer on 27 (31) for the Lionesses.
Titans opening batter, Sunette Viljoen-Louw, got the run chase going with a rapid 39 (39). Gandhi Jafta and Elize-Mari Marx remained unbeaten as the #DaisyLadies scored 129/5 in 24.3 overs, beating the Lionesses by 5 wickets.
The top of the table clash saw Six Gun Grill Western Province Women host Senwes North West Dragons in Newlands, Cape Town.
Dragons won the toss and chose to bat. It might not have been the best choice on the day as a destructive bowling spell from Robyn Appels with figures of 10-41-6 saw the North West team bowled out for 128 in 28.3 overs.
Zintle Mali top-scored for the Dragons with 30 (34).
The Western Province team responded well with Yandiswa Mangele unbeaten on 33 (48). Dragons fought hard with an impressive bowling spell from Elandri Janse van Rensburg who took four wickets, but it was not to be as Western Province reached 130/6 in 28 overs and maintained their winning streak.
Hollywoodbets KZN Coastal Women hosted Eastern Storm Women at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium in the final Top 6 match of the day.
The coastal team won the toss and chose to field.
The Easterns team struggled a they were bowled out for 100 in 41 overs, with Alysia Rudolph the highest run-scorer on 35 (56). Sisanda Ngubane took 3 wickets for the coastal team.
The Flames opening pair of Nadine Moodley and Courtney Gounden almost went all the way but Gounden was trapped LBW by Alysia Rudolph on 32 (65). Moodley remained unbeaten on 57* (59) as the coastal team recorded their first win for the second half of the league, reaching 101/1 in 21.2 overs.
