Nomvelo Sibanda’s five-wicket haul and Kelis Ndlovu’s 33 run-score powered Zimbabwe to win the 2022 Capricorn Women’s tri-series in Windhoek, on Tuesday, 26 April.
Namibia were put into bat first with the openers finding the going tough as Sibanda settled a tense final match.
The Zimbabwean left-arm medium conjured a masterful hat-trick in the first over bowling out Jurriene Diegaardt, Kayleen Green before she trapped Sune Wittmann.
Sibanda then dismissed Yasmeen Khan in the third over as the Capricorn Eagles struggled at 31/5. She was not done yet as she trapped Sylvia Shihepo who was caught by Modester Mupachikwa in the 13th over.
Precious Marange and Anesu Mushangwe took two wickets each as Namibia were bowled out for 70 in 13.3 overs.
In return, Zimbabwe posted 76-3 in 9.1 overs with debutant Ndlovu contributing 33 and Mary-Anne Musonda 21*.
Zimbabwe won by 7 wickets.
Sibanda who was the stand out bowler taking five wickets for 14 runs in 3.3 overs won the Player of the Match award.
