A sensational bowling display by the Hollywoodbets Dolphins Women had them claiming the weekend double over Recon Tactical Free State Women in Bloemfontein on Sunday 12 November.
In the first match of the day in Division one of the T20 Challenge, Dolphins were put in to bat after losing the toss. The batting line up consisting of Nobuhle Busane 26 (40) with two fours and an unbeaten 34* (38) with four fours from Courtney Gounden saw the visitors posting a total of 105/6 in their allotted overs.
Free State batters struggled against the brilliant Dolphins bowling attack. Nonkululeko Mlaba, Jade de Figueiredo and Zintle Mali ripped through the batting order as they bowled out Free State for 39 runs. Mlaba was sensational with 3/10, with de Figueiredo having a brilliant session of 2/1 and Mali contributing 2/8 as the Dolphins claimed a 66-run victory and weekend double over their hosts.
In Oudtshoorn, DP World Lions Women were out for revenge from the day before. Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers Women chose to bat first. They steadily put runs on the board as they amassed 99/4 in their allotted overs. Julia Hoal was unbeaten on 24* (36) with one four.
Lions top order batting unit made good on their game plan as they comfortably got the scoreboard ticking away. Madison Landsman contributed with 21 (24) with four fours and one maximum, Kirstie Thompson 31 (27) hitting five fours and Nonkululeko Thabethe supported with 10 (18), as the Lions reached 100/4 in the 18th over. Jane Winster and Chantelle van Schoor got two scalps each as the Lions beat the Badgers by 4-wickets.
Eastern Storm beat Limpopo Women by 5 wickets, staking their claim to the weekend double in Division two at Willowmoore Park, Benoni.
Limpopo were put in to bat by Eastern Storm. Khanyi Skhosana contributed with 21 (18) with four fours and an unbeaten 15* (28) from Akani Mashimbyi saw the visitors posting a total of 85/7 in their innings. Leandre Bentley and Alysia Rudolph took 2-wickets each for Eastern Storm.
Sabelo Jiyani and Ashleigh van Wyk were unbeaten on 15* (25) and 25* (34) respectively as the home team claimed the win in the 18th over, with a score on 86/5. Anele Dilikane had figures of 2/6 for Limpopo.
