In a weather interrupted match, Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano played a sensational innings as Zimbabwe claimed an emphatic 6-wicket victory over SA Emerging Women to level the T20 series on Tuesday, 20 November in Zimbabwe.
SA having come off a remarkable win the previous day was hoping to keep the momentum going, but the weather gods had plans of their own in the second T20 at Harare Sports Club.
Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to field first, but showers and lightening delayed the start of play before the first ball was bowled, and the match was eventually reduced to 8-overs a side.
Once play got under way, opener Andrie Steyn contributed with a well-played 17 (13) hitting two fours before she was sent back to the change-room, Nondumiso Shangase produced an unbeaten 22* (12) with two fours and one six, with Eliz-Mari Marx the only other batter to reach double figures of 10 (12) as SA Emerging posted 69/4 in their eight overs.
Kelis Ndlovu was the most destructive bowler for the hosts with figures of 3/28 as they restricted the visitors.
Even though Zimbabwe lost their opening batter Kelsie Ndlovu off the bowling of Eliz-Mari Marx, they were not going to let the SA bowling attack get the better of them. Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano played a match winning unbeaten innings of 42* (18) smashing six fours and one maximum as the host reached 70/4 with two balls to spare.
Seshnie Naidu took 2/22 for SA Emerging, but it was not enough as Zimbabwe claimed their 6-wicket victory and level the series.
With four more matches on the horizon, it comes down to which team wants it more. Are they going to go head-to-head all the way to the last match or will one team best the other and run-away with the series.
