Cian Oldknow has claimed her maiden South African title in her third career marathon, winning the ASA Marathon Championships in a new record course time of 2:29:47 at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Sunday, 28 April, 2024.

Chasing an Olympic dream, Cian Oldknow claimed her maiden South African title by winning the ASA Marathon Championships in a new record course time of 2:29:47, at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, on Sunday, 28 April 2024.

Running in her just her third career marathon and participating in the colours of Central Gauteng Athletics, Oldknow crossed the finish line under the 2h30 mark to break the course record, previously set by Annie Bothma in 2023.

Earlier this year Oldknow became the second-fastest South African female to run a marathon, when she completed the Seville Half Marathon in Olympic qualifying time of 2:25:08. Cian who has held a life long dream of winning a national title made the dream a reality when she won in emphatic style in Durban.

“I really wanted to win the South African title today. It was a huge goal of mine. It was a good race, and good experience. I got exactly what I was aiming for,” she told the media.
