Fresh from winning the BO Classic with a course record of 15:22 last week, Ethiopian middle-distance runner, Dawit Seyaum, emerged as winner of the Campaccio Cross Country Tour in Italy.
The 25-year-old outshined tour favourites Beatrice Chebet from Kenya, and Italy’s Nadia Battocletti, to win her first race of the year.
After dominating the majority of the race, Eritrean Rahet Ghebreyohannes’ hopes of winning gold was shattered by Seyaum as the Ethiopian’s deadly progression in the last kilometre saw her triumph with a 18:48 time victory, just one second ahead of Ghebreyohannes.
Wanda Diamond League 3000-meter champion, Chebet, finished third in 18:51.
