Boxer Athletics Club’s Diana Lebo Phalula ran to victory claiming gold at the Central Gauteng Athletics Championships at Kagiso Sports Complex on Saturday, 9 January 2021.
The annual Cross Country Championships were given the greenlight by authorities to take place under strict Covid-19 regulations and protocols, adhering to the national Level 3 Lockdown rules.
On race day, Phalula crossed the finish line in a time of 37:28 ahead of Cacisile Sosibo (37:37) and her twin sister, Lebogang, in third (38:15), in the 10km race.

Cash prizes were awarded to the top five runners, with the fastest finisher earning R1,000.
In the Junior stakes, Gene Coetzee finished first ahead of Sarah Copeland and Ntokozo Gumede.
