Banyana Banyana coach, Desiree Ellis, is determined to get her players fit as local national team players assembled for a training camp that will end on Friday, 19 March 2021, at the SAFA Technical Centre (Fun Valley).

This is the first time that the team has gathered since defending their COSAFA Cup title in November 2020.

“We just wanted to have an idea of where the players are at in terms of fitness. This is a big year for us after losing a year of football due to the Coronavirus pandemic,” Ellis explained to SAFA.net

Although a number of the national team players are currently playing abroad, Ellis emphasized the importance of keeping the local players fit.

“We wanted to make sure local players get to a certain level so that when the two get together, there isn’t a huge gap in terms of conditioning.

“We also hope to assess new players in the squad, but the main purpose is to get a balance when the time for selection comes,” she concluded.
