Reunion’s Hina-Maria Conradi set the early benchmark for the event with the biggest total of the round, a 15.00 out of 20, as the women’s Qualifying Series 2,000 completed its Round of 24 at the Rip Curl Vic Bay Surf Pro at Victoria Bay in George, Western Cape, on Friday, 19 June 2026.

Conradi was untouchable in the third heat, where her 15.00 set the standard for the opening day. She advanced in the company of Jasmine Venter, who took the second qualifying place to keep the home charge alive.

The pick of the South Africans was Cape Town’s Emily Jenkinson, who powered into the Round of 16 with a 12.77, the best home total of the day. Jenkinson backed a 6.50 with a 6.27 to win the second heat comfortably, advancing alongside Morocco’s Ninon Mattei.

France’s Sarah Leiceaga produced the second-best score of the round, a 13.17, to win the fourth heat, where Leah Lepront came through in second on an 8.63 to extend the South African presence, while Taylor Emslie and Gabriella Herbst advanced from the opening heat.

Camilla Heuer, Katie Winter, Maya Malherbe, Nina Bone, Lila Aszalos, Sophia Jackson and Demi Rowe were eliminated across the four heats, as was Australia’s Philippa Anderson.

The leading seeds were rested through the Round of 24 and enter the draw at the Round of 16.

Defending champion Natasha van Greunen heads the eight byes and has been drawn into the second heat alongside Jenkinson and Herbst, while reigning regional champion Louise Lepront, Jessie van Niekerk, Sarah Baum, Anastasia Venter, Zoë Steyn, Lilias Tebbai and Max Kauffman complete the seeded group.

Leah Lepront faces one of the tougher draws, up against Van Niekerk, Anastasia Venter and Conradi in the third heat.

In the Rip Curl Vic Bay Surf Pro Junior, the women’s draw goes straight into the quarterfinals when competition resumes. Officials will make the next call on conditions at 07h30 on Saturday, 20 June 2026.
