Faith Kipyegon Breaks Another World Record

A week after the smashing the 1500m world record at the Florence Diamond League, Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon has gone on to set another world record in the 5000m event in Paris on Friday, 9 June 2023.

Kipyegon defeated reigning 5000m record holder, Letesenbet Gidey from Ethiopia in a time of 14:05.20.

The 29-year-old broke her Personal Best of 14:31.95 which she set in the same distance in 2015.

Gidey came in second position in 14:07.94 meanwhile her countrymate, Taye Ejgayehu, clocked in 14:13.31 taking third place.

Kipyegon now boasts two Olympic golds, two world titles and two world records.

1.Faith Kipyegon – 14:05.20
2.Letesenbet Gidey – 14:07.94
3.Taye Eigayehu – 14:13.31
