Fort Hare Find Their Rhythm as Hollywoodbets Super League Rolls On

The University of Pretoria held the University of the Western Cape to a nil-all draw at the UWN Stadium to share points in the Western Cape, as the Hollywoodbets Super League's Week 15 fixtures played out on Saturday, 31 May, and Sunday, 1 June, 2025. Photo: Supplied

Despite several players being on international duty with Banyana Banyana for the ongoing Three Nations Series against Botswana and Zambia, the Hollywoodbets Super League continued with six matches in Week 15 of the Hollywoodbets Super League, on Saturday, 31 May, and Sunday, 1 June, 2025.

The standout result came from the University of Fort Hare, who recorded their fifth win of the season with a commanding 3–0 victory over Richmond United at Davidson Stadium. Goals came from Reitumetse Chabana, as well as substitutes Lerato Meshoeshoe and Deonique Veltman. Fort Hare are seventh on the log, having only one win from their last three matches.

At the UJ Soweto Stadium, the University of Johannesburg bounced back from recent inconsistencies to cruise past Durban Ladies. The “Orange Army” showed a return to form just in time, with an away trip to UCT on the horizon.

The University of the Western Cape, playing without head coach Thinasonke Mbuli, who is currently with the national team as an assistant to Banyana coach Dr. Desiree Ellis, played out a goalless draw against the University of Pretoria.

UWC FC will want to make up for that result when they travel to face struggling Durban Ladies next weekend.

Copper Belts Ladies continued their strong campaign with a 2–0 win over First Touch Ladies, helped by an unfortunate own goal from Pulane Nzapesa. Copper Belts now head to Pretoria to face AmaTuks.

Elsewhere, 15th-placed Royal AM suffered a 1–0 defeat to top-flight newcomers Ezemvelo FC. Ezemvelo’s next challenge is a big one: a home clash against JVW FC. While Thwihli Thwahla also have a mountain to climb against the defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies at the Harry Gwala Stadium.

Sunday’s sole fixture saw City Lads cause an upset as they stunned TUT Matsatsantsa in a 1-0 victory at the Westbourne Oval in PE.

TS Galaxy, who enjoyed a week off, come back to host City Lads in their home ground, Kanyamazane Stadium.
