Voting is in full swing for the 2021 Momentum gsport Awards as the public show support for their leading #gsport16 candidates at gsport.co.za/voting.

Votes in each category will be considered alongside the elite gsport judging panel scoring to decide the overall award winners.

One of the great enhancements of voting, introduced in 2017, is the Public Choice Award. This award goes to a finalist who captures the public imagination and wins the largest public vote across all categories, without going on to win their individual award category.

Previous winners of the Public Choice award include Banyana Banyana team manager, Lauren Duncan, middle distance runner turned sports administrator and double #gpsort16 finalist, Kesa Molotsane, SABC Sport Broadcaster, Xoli Zondo and squash star, Awande Malinga. These women did not win their individual categories but scored the highest public votes among finalist in their year. So, every vote counts!!

To keep up the suspense in this regard, cloaked voting will take effect from midday, 9 August, until voting closes on 12 August. This means that no voting results will be visible in the Voting Hall, to ensure that the public voting results are not known in advance of the announcement of winners on the Awards night.

While the Momentum gsport Awards Judges are instrumental in deciding Awards winners, the gsport Public Choice Award is a first step towards honouring the community supporting the Finalists.
