A tenacious campaign sees the Gauteng Jaguars regain their lead at the top of the Division A leaderboard on Day 7’s return to action at the 2024 Telkom Netball League, at Ellis Park Arena in Johannesburg, Gauteng, on Thursday, May 2, 2024.
Despite a tight race, their narrow 7-goal difference advantage over the Free State Crinums comes after their 60-40 Thursday win over the Flames, while tied on points with just the goal difference separating them, the Free State Crinums battled for their 44-37 win over the Stings.
Both teams boast eight points each, having secured four wins apiece and the one draw, against each other.
Just one point behind them, the Golden Fireballs have made third spot their own after four wins and a solitary loss, to the Crinums on Day 4, in their five matches, to maintain a comfortable distance from the leading contenders.

The Kingdom Stars maintain their unbeaten streak to maintain their Division B lead with five wins and 10 points, holding a game in hand over the Sunbirds. The Eastern Cape Comets lead the battle for third place over the Western Cape Tornados.
In the Division B showdown, the Mpumalanga Sunbirds clashed with Tshukudu in a tightly contested match that went down to the wire, with just one goal separating them, the Tornadoes emerged victorious, showcasing a well-rounded performance.

However, it was their proficiency in the shooting circle that ultimately made the difference, with Entle Futshane earning the player of the match title for her instrumental role in guiding her team to a 60-45 triumph.
The North West Tshukudu started strongly in the first quarter, having lost to one goal against the Mpumalanga Sunbirds. Despite Coach Kealeboga Mabeko making changes in the game attacking position, the Sunbirds couldn’t cause an upset.
In the clash between the Lillies and the Sonoblomo, the Limpopo Lilies continued their streak of upsets, winning none of their six games under the guidance of coach Nthabiseng Mothusi. Despite a slow start, the Kingdom Queens made a comeback but couldn’t maintain the intensity, falling short against the Tornados.

The day concluded with a battle between the Flames and the Jaguars. While the Flames started strong, they faltered in the later stages of the game, succumbing to the dominance of the Jaguars, despite Elsunet du Plessis coach of the Flames making changes to the game plan.
