Western Province beat Recon Tactical Free State away, whilst the Hollywoodbets Dolphin Ladies and DP World Lions Women had their match abandoned, as CSA Women’s Professional Domestic One-Day competition got under way for the second half the of the season on Saturday, 17 February, 2024
Free State hosted Western Province at the Manguang Oval in Bloemfontein on Saturday, 17 February, and after winning the toss, Western Province captain Kelsey Adams elected to bat first.
Faye Tunnicliffe (39), Jemma Botha (43), Yandiswa Mangele (26) and Babette de Leede (22) added valuable contributions for the visitors, who were bowled out for 199 with 14 balls to spare in their allotted overs.
Zintle Kula took a splendid four-wicket haul (4/33) with Gezelle Janse van Rensburg taking 3/22 for the pick of the home team’s bowling efforts, with added support from Elandri Janse van Rensburg, Pretty Molefe and Miane Smit taking a wicket a piece, as they restricted the visitors.
Yolandi Potgieter (54) and Mignon van de Merwe (41) put on a well-constructed fight back, but it was the lethal bowling of Jemma Botha (4/35), Kayla Reyneke (3/38) and Nosipho Vezi (2/20) that saw the hosts bowled out for 160, in the forty-third over of their innings, to claim a 39-run victory.
The match between the Hollywoodbets Dolphins Women and DP World Lions Women was abandoned at the Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium, due to inclement weather.
