Jo-Ané van Dyk Breaks 60m Barrier in Czech Republic

Javelin athlete, Jo-Ané van Dyk, beat her previous Personal Best by 4 metres as she broke the 60m barrier for the first time in her career at the Kladno Continental Bronze Meeting.

Van Dyk’s 61.19m throw earned her a second-place finish in Czech Republic.

The silver medalist expressed her delight on Instagram, saying: “I still can’t believe what happened yesterday. Breaking the 60m barrier for the first time. I am without words. All glory to God.

The 23-year-old’s latest performance is 2.81m’s shy away from achieving an Olympic qualification which she will be looking to complete ahead of the Games in Tokyo.
