I understand there is a responsibility now to represent South Africa and the African continent and I will do that to the best of my ability. It’s not something I ever thought would happen for me, if I’m honest. I didn’t expect it but I took the chance and bet on myself in the biggest way possible and took the risk and now this happened and I’m delighted but I’m also quite anxious to get started with the work so that I can start feeling comfortable and settle into the role I guess. But yes it still feels quite surreal.
Star South African sports broadcaster Julia Stuart marks a significant chapter in her already illustrious career, joining Premier League Productions in London
Julia’s journey in the sports industry has been one of continuous ascent over the years, evolving from a print journalist to an accomplished broadcaster. Her impressive career trajectory has seen her serve as a rugby writer, a versatile sports reporter for the TV news channel eNCA, as well as a pivotal role at SuperSport’s 24-hour sports news channel, Blitz.
Furthermore, she has excelled as a content editor for online sports platforms and held positions as a football writer and sports editor at Independent Newspapers, demonstrating her multifaceted expertise in the field.
The Cape Town born powerhouse’s role within SuperSport extends to being a studio anchor and pitchside reporter, covering a wide array of football events, including the DSTV Premiership and various cup competitions within South Africa, as well as contributing to Premier League TV on an international level.

Her versatile talents have also been showcased on the global stage, where she anchored studio segments for prestigious tournaments like the UEFA European Championships, Africa Cup of Nations, FIFA Women’s World Cup, and UEFA Europa League. Now, she embarks on an exciting new chapter by joining the Premier League, further enhancing her already impressive repertoire which serves as a beacon of inspiration for budding journalists and broadcasters striving to leave their mark in this dynamic industry.
Stuart shares valuable insights for journalists and broadcasters aiming to make their mark in this ever-evolving industry “I wish I had social media when I was starting because that is such a great platform to make an aim for yourself, share your views with the world, to have your choice heard, have your videos seen, so use that. Traditional platforms will come for you once they see what you can do in that space. That’s for those who ask how to start.”
“I’ve always maintained that hard work can get you into any room, maybe not in the time you expect, but eventually my number one motor and my number one principal has always been that I aim to be the hardest worker in the room”.
