The proudly-announced “Mid Court Maestro” makes the move from South Africa to Wales for the 2024 season.

Before the Netball World Cup in Cape Town, Chawane featured for the Free State Crinums who lost 59-51 in a hotly contested final at the Heartfelt Arena in Pretoria in the Telkom Netball League.

KC, as she is affectionately known, is no stranger to the Super League. She had previously signed for Team Bath in the 2020 season, which was cut short by COVID.

She shared her enthusiasm for the upcoming season:

“I’m excited for the new opportunity, experiencing a new environment and playing some great netball with great teammates.”

During the signing window, nine players have left the Welsh franchise. Clare Jones announced her retirement, and Shaquanda Greene-Noel confirmed she’ll be focusing on her business away from netball.

Meanwhile, Ella Powell-Davies and Celyn Emanuel have moved to Severn Stars and Leeds Rhinos respectively. In their place, Dragons have named a squad which features a mixture of returning stars, international experience, and bright young prospects.

Jill McIntosh will return at the helm at Cardiff Dragons after coming in midway through the 2023 season. The former Australian Diamonds Captain and Head Coach expressed her anticipation:

“I am thrilled to be returning to the Head Coach position with the Cardiff Dragons for the 2024 Netball Super League season. Having had a small stint with the Dragons in the 2023 NSL season, I look forward to working with the returning athletes as well as some new and exciting athletes who will join the Cardiff Dragons franchise for the upcoming season.”
