SPAR South African women’s hockey coach, Jenny King, says she was pleased with her team’s performance against Australia yesterday, despite losing by 1 goal to nil.

Australia’s only goal came in the dying minutes of the first half, but they were then put under immense pressure by South Africa playing with great intensity, but struggling with their finishing.

South Africa face Korea in their second group game today and King told gsport from Madrid that there is “great confidence among the girls” and she herself had a good feeling ahead of the game.

The match kicks off at 2pm, and will be broadcast live on Supersport 1.
