Ramatlaohle Ladies were the first team to reach the semi-finals of the Sasol National Championships from the ties on the final day of group-stage fixtures at the Loerie Park Sports Grounds in Knysna, the Western Cape, on Thursday, 17 October, 2024.

The team from Limpopo was switched on from the moment the whistle was blown, and their peak concentration saw them score the opening goal within the first two minutes of the start of play, when Dineo Masike headed the ball into an open net to take the precious lead.

Ramatlaohle Ladies were handed a penalty soon after, but failed to score much to the delight of their opponents before Selina Schalkwyk doubled her team’s lead for a 2-nil lead heading into half-time just a few minutes later.

Ramatlaohle Ladies remained in control of the match and this saw their third goal come to fruition, via Sarah Thubakgale beforeRaycon was able to score a late goal to draw on back to save the blushes.

UCT were simply unstoppable as they booked their semi-finals place with a 6-0 victory over Sophakama Ladies.

The team from the Western Cape scored three goals per half and it was captain Robyn Coetzee led from the front for her team and was part of the all-out attack UCT brought.  Tara Haoust opened the scoring within the first ten minutes and she doubled that lead with a solid shot in to net.

It was Coetzee who netted the third goal as the teams headed off the field after a strong performance from her team in the first half. The scoring only continued when the match resumed as Nabeelah Galant picked on a loose ball and found the back of the net.

UCT was dominating the match in every way and Sophakama Ladies found the going tough. Things got even harder as Coetzee netted her brace and her team’s fifth goal and it was Alvina Enoh that sealed the stunning win for her team.

Kovsies joined UCT and Ramatlaohle Ladies in the semi-finals when they became the only team to win both group-stage matches, when they put in a dominant performance against Royal Wizards.

The Free State champions were able to get past their opponents from the Northern Cape with ease and seal a 3-0 win at the Loerie Park Sports Grounds.

KwaZulu-Natal team Ezemvelo FC also qualifies for the last four having completed their match quota in the first two days of action, as the fourth team that will compete in the semi-finals on Friday, 18 October 2024.

The match-ups sees a rampant UCT take on log top qualifiers Kovsies, while Ramatlaohle Ladies face pre-tournament favourites Ezemvelo FC on Friday, with Saturday a rest day ahead of the final on Sunday.
